Short Bio

Night Committee is a St. Paul-based indie rock four-piece blending wiry guitars, melodic bass, and dead-serious drum grooves. All members contribute vocals on songs about municipal feelings, missed exits, and trying to improve without getting boring. Lean, hooky, emotionally sideways, and strongly opinionated about parking in the Twin Cities.

Bio

Night Committee is a St. Paul indie rock four-piece making sharp, atmospheric songs for crowded rooms, cold nights, and people trying to hold it together with a little dignity. Blending wiry guitars, melodic basslines, dead-serious drum grooves, and all-member vocals, the band lands somewhere between post-punk tension and big, emotionally communal choruses.

Rooted in the older neighborhoods, half-lit bars, and municipal melancholy of St. Paul, Night Committee writes about missed exits, cracked sidewalks, Catholic school residue, parking grudges, and the strange effort of becoming a better person without getting dull. Their live show is tight, dynamic, and slightly unhinged, with enough dry humor for the art crowd and enough momentum for a basement full of people in black coats.

Caflisch is a word guy in the best tradition (a little closer to the spirit of Loudon Wainwright III than Leonard Cohen), while musically he would comfortably fit in just as easily with early Seventies singer-songwriters as late Seventies punk pop. — Kevin Avery, Author, Everything is an Afterthought: The Life and Writings of Paul Nelson
Runaway is incredibly addicting. — Amy Carlson-Gustafson, St. Paul Pioneer Press
